Biography
Lyra is one of the most highly trained violinists on our books, and one of the most versatile. She began the violin and the piano at five, studied at the Royal College of Music as a junior – taking prizes in violin, theory and piano – and went on to Oxford University and the Royal Academy of Music, graduating with distinction and outstanding marks in her final recitals.
That training has taken her a long way from the recital room. She has performed at the O2 Arena, the Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, the Konzerthaus in Berlin and the BBC Proms, and abroad in Monaco, Mexico, Dubai, Ibiza and India. Closer to home she plays regularly at The Savoy, the Four Seasons in London and Paris, and Harrods. She also does session and live work for chart artists, and tours as a member of a folk-rock band.
What makes her unusual for a wedding is the range of sounds she can make. She plays acoustic violin for a ceremony, electric violin for something with more drive, and has a light-up LED violin and bow for a fifteen-minute show – which is quite a thing for a grand entrance or the start of the evening. Her repertoire runs from the ceremony classics through soul, pop, country, jazz, Afrobeats, R&B and a full Bollywood set.
She is also a concert pianist who has performed at Wigmore Hall, so if your venue has a piano she can add solo piano sets to a booking. She can play alongside a DJ for the evening party, or bring one. And if you would like your first dance played live, she will learn it and arrange it for you.
