Biography
Cantata is about as well trained as a wedding violinist gets. She is a postgraduate at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, studying with Pavel Fischer, and came to it with a first class honours degree in Music from the University of Nottingham, where she led both the University Sinfonia and the Philharmonia.
Her orchestral CV is genuinely impressive. She has played side by side with The Hallé under Sir Mark Elder, worked with Markus Stenz on a Paris Conservatoire project marking a hundred years since the end of the First World War – performed at the RNCM, at Cadogan Hall in London and in Paris – and freelances with the BBC Philharmonic, the BBC Concert Orchestra, Manchester Camerata and London Concertante.
She is also a musical theatre player, which is rarer than it sounds and makes a real difference at a wedding. Through the London Musical Theatre Orchestra she has performed Bernstein’s Candide at Cadogan Hall and Mack & Mabel at the Hackney Empire alongside West End performers, as well as The Phantom of the Opera and Miss Saigon. That background shows in how she plays a song rather than simply the notes.
For your day, all of that sits behind something very straightforward. She arrives with her own professional PA, sets up in about thirty minutes, and plays whatever you would like – solo, or with backing tracks if you want a fuller sound.
